Jim Jones and Myrtle Kennedy in Lynn, 1971. Myrtle was the woman who helped Jim when he was just a child. She fed him when Lynetta wasn’t around to take care of him, took him to the Nazarene church on Sundays, and often allowed him to spend the night at her house. He considered her as his second mother, and privately, called her “mom.” Even after he left Lynn, and up to Jonestown, Jim never forgot Mrs. Kennedy, and wrote her every week.
